Scope of Project:

Subcontracted by G.M. McCrossin, Inc., Brayman provided design/build services to construct two (2) circular cell cofferdams for the Limestone holding structures and adjoining conveyor trenches - allowing for construction of the structures in a dry environment. Brayman incorporated the use of PZC-18 Sheet piles in the design and construction of each of these structures. The diamters were 108.5 feet for the Limestone Unloading Building structure and 60.75 feet for the Limestone Reclaim Building structure with excavations averaging 40 feet deep. Piling was secured utilizing vertical tie-down anchors which were installed to counter any uplift potential. Cast-in-place concrete compression rings were also cast to provide an internal bracing system. Grouting was used to control underground water seepage.
