General Contractor: Brayman Construction Corporation
Value: $266,000
Date Complete: June, 2008

Scope of Project:

This project which began in April 2008 is representative of Pittsburgh's redevelopment of existing brownfield sites of former industrial sites throughout the area. This project included the undercut and removal of the existing foundation and other obstructions for the former LTV Steel Plant for the construction of the new Hofbrauhaus Micro Brewery. Typical obstructions included the existing concrete foundation slab averaging six feet in thickness - embedded with steel I-beams used as rebar. Other obstructions included large slag deposits from the former mill site. Materials were sorted, crushed, sifted, and removed from the site. Upon removal of all obstructions, the foundation was excavated to specifications and backfilled with approximately 4,800 tons of gravel.
