General Contractor: Brayman Construction Corporation
Value: $13,762,000
Date Complete: May 2011

Scope of Project:

Originally built from 1836-1842 to support a 23 mile-long pool of water, Lock #3 was constructed of a timber crib structure, consisting of an outside frame of timbers filled with dirt and rock while the original lock was stone masonry. Lock #3 was shut down in 2007 because of mechanical and structural problems. Brayman was contracted to perform modification of an existing overflow spillway with the installation of concrete filled sheetpile cells, a new tie-in to the existing lock walls and a new land side abutment and training wall.
