Brayman was awarded a contract by CSX Transportation for the erection of a new four-span through plate girder bridge, located near Youngstown, OH.
This project consisted of a new four-span steel structure bridge crossing over the Mahoning River. The new span is 490' in length and located directly upstream of the existing bridge that remained in service until the new structure was completed. The existing bridge was demolished upon completion of the new span.
The substructure consisted of 6, 8' diameter caissons with 7' diameter pier columns. The superstructure consisted of 2 fascia girders, per span, with floor beams and intermediate diaphragms. A concrete deck, 29' in width, was also constructed to provide service for two sets of railroad tracks.
