This project was for the construction of a new 450' curved, four-span, steel girder structure connecting SR28 South to the I-279 South highway. The new construction included the addition of 2 abutments, founded on 36" diameter caissons, and 3 piers, founded on various diameter single caissons.
The structure was built over I-279 and under I-579. Tight vertical and horizontal clearances added to the challenge for girder erection on the project.
Some other aspects of work included: approach work, 5000sy of concrete pavement,traffic signal modifications, ITS Systems, interstate shutdowns, traffic detours and new sign structures.
