Brayman was contracted by American Electric Power to construct a new barge unloading facility as part of necessary flue-gas desulfurization (FGD) upgrades at the existing Mitchell Power Station located on the Ohio River, south of Wheeling, West Virginia.
The scope of work for this project required 50,000cy of dredging and the design and construction of 7, 20' diameter and 2, 40' diameter sheet pile cells to be used for a new barge unloading facility at the site of the existing power station environmental compliance (FGD) project on the Ohio River. In addition, Brayman completed 50,000cy of dredging, and installed reinforced concrete cell caps, E-crane platforms and foundations.
