Brayman was awarded the contract to construct a new bridge and approach roadway on SR 136 over the Allegheny Valley Railroad and Little Chartiers Creek in Eighty Four, Pa. The bridge work consisted of the demolition of the existing four span structure, replacing with a new 200 ft two span structure.
The construction utilized ABC (Accelerated Bridge Construction) methods. Precast pier stems, pier cap, abutments, approach slabs, sleeper slabs, wing walls and deck modules were utilized. Construction of the pier foundation started in July and the bridge was closed on September 7th. Brayman completed the demolition of the old bridge and construction of the new bridge and roadway in just 24 days and in addition, this was the first multispan ABC bridge ever constructed in Pennsylvania.
