Multi-Phase Project: Phase

Greensburg Pike Bridge

Brayman was contracted to replace the existing seven-span steel truss Greensburg Pike Bridge carrying SR 7467 over Turtle Creek and three active Norfolk Southern rail tracks located in Allegheny County, PA. Scope involved construction of a new four-span 663-LF steel girder bridge slightly downstream of the existing bridge. Abutments and piers were constructed on a deep foundation system comprised of drilled shafts ranging in diameter from 48-inches to 114-inches and reach depths over 100-feet. Project required 1.8 million pounds of structural steel, 600,000 pounds of rebar and 4,000 cubic yards of concrete. A major component of the project included the design and construction of two retaining walls at Abutment 2 necessary to support the new bridge approach roadway situated in a historically landslide prone area.
