Brayman Construction held its 4th annual Cub Scout Day of Learning on December 3, 2016 at its headquarters in Saxonburg, PA. In attendance were approximately 60 Webelos Scouts, parents and leaders from 10 different packs from across Moraine Trails Council.
The scouts learned about how bridges and other large construction projects are built. Demonstrations were conducted by Brayman staff on welding, steel fabrication, rebar bending and tying, and precast concrete production. The scouts then took part in a bridge building competition where paper and tape were the only construction material used. They were judged on cost, style, and stability.
The Cub Scout Day of Learning is designed to foster interest in science, technology, engineering and math; otherwise know as STEM. Moraine Trails Council serves the youth and families of Butler, Lawrence, Armstrong and northern Westmoreland Counties. They can be reached at 724-287-6791.
