E.S. Wagner Company, working for Norfolk Southern Railroad, recently contracted Brayman’s Foundation Division for a $1.6M project in Bellevue, OH. The scope of work will be performed near “active” railroad tracks, in three different phases, and entails the furnishing and installation of caissons and secant pile walls. The walls will consist of a series of closely spaced, overlapping, drilled shafts. The shafts will be divided into primary and secondary shafts, which the team will install to provide sufficient overlap between the primary and secondary piles.
The size of the shafts will range from 36in diameter, with 30in rock sockets, to 48in diameter, with 42in rock sockets. By projects end, there will be 165 shafts installed for a total of over 6,276lf.
