The PA Turnpike Commission’s Superstructure Replacement of WB-224B was the first lateral slide-in bridge construction project for both Brayman and the PA Turnpike Commission. The project consisted of the replacement of the existing two-span adjacent box beam superstructure, with a two-span continuous composite steel plate girder bridge. Building of the new superstructure was done off-line alignment on temporary supports, then it was slid into position during a 53-hour closure, two hours ahead of schedule.
